Ocean Freight Import Specialist

 
Our client, a Freight Forwarding organization who is the expert in global air, ocean and ground Freight Forwarding is urgently seeking a Bilingual Ocean Freight Import Specialist, to start immediately.
 
Key Responsibilities:

 
:• Develops relationship with allocated customers.
• Accepts all orders (from customer or overseas office) and processes them to Operations
• Proactively informs customer on shipment status, exceptions and provides intermediate updates on
incident solution
• Creates and confirms transport order to ensure pickup of the shipment at origin
• Performs booking and booking optimization according to internal guidelines as defined by Product
• Prepares, controls and distributes all required Import documents to counterparts (carrier, consignee, supplier, etc.) complying with regulations and internal procedures
• Checks responses from counterparts and finalizes validation of required documents
• Follows-up shipment status in the Import area, identifies incidents and ensures resolution of incidents
• Keeps the Customer Service team updated, so the CS team can update the customer
• Supports Customer Service in the incident and exception management resolution
• Maintains excellent relationships with suppliers
• Is responsible for identifying performance issues of suppliers and proposes solutions to
improve/correct performance, as well as issue an Operational Irregularities
• Manages shipments’ profitability and bill customers and/offices accordingly
• Interacts with Customer Service, Product, and Global Service Centers, if required
 
Minimum Requirements (Education, experience and skills):

• Min 2 years’ experience in Freight Forwarding with a concentration in Ocean Import
• Proficient knowledge of export documentation & Incoterms
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Team player
• Well organized
• Good self-initiative and proactive
• Computer literate
• Monday – Friday – 8.30 am to 4.30 pm
• Able to work effectively under pressure
• Professional & courteous phone manners
• Ability to solve logistical problems as necessary
• Proficient verbal,written & organizational skills

 
This role provides an attractive compensation package which comprises of full benefits after 3 months (health, dental and vision care), and offers a salary of between $47K – $54K, depending on experience.
