Contract opportunity: Quality Assurance Specialist with experience in verification testing and automated test management for multi-platform applications

Looking for self-motivated individuals to work within the Video Technology & Engineering Department. Successful candidates will have experience and demonstrable skills in the design and development of automated verification test cases for IP video delivery services and features on a wide variety of endpoint devices. The selected individual will be working with a team of verification engineers and software developers, to perform software verification and design automated user-experience testing collateral for a best-in-class mobile video streaming application. The increasingly competitive IP video streaming market ensures that this role will be interesting and challenging.

Job Logistics
Normal Working hours: 37.5 hours per week between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Mon.-Fri.
Working location: Ottawa, ON (Remote telework required until further notice)
Responsibilities
Execute test cases in the lab to verify customer experience for use of our multi-platform video streaming application, aka FibeTv app.
Design, develop, and validate automated test strategies and test cases for same
Generate detailed problem reports, changes requests, and enhancement proposals
Document and communicate testing results
Perform quality control on the automated platform and test collateral to ensure peak efficiency, and optimal user experience testing coverage
We may optionally employ candidates with software skills in the development of automated test cases on a variety of automation platforms.

Skill & Experience Requirements
Required: At least 3 years of experience in QA Automation or similar role.
Required: At least 5 years of experience in IT industry in QA Analyst or similar role.
Required: Strong understanding of QA methodologies for web and mobile apps.
Required: Experience in planning, design, development and execution of manual along with automated tests using standard automation frameworks like WATIR, SELENIUM, APPIUM via Minitest, Rspec or similar ruby test frameworks.
Required: Comfortable with Git/Bitbucket.
Required: Experience working in an Agile SCRUM development environment, knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, and TestRail will be a definite asset.
Required: Strong written and oral communication skills (in English)
Required: Strong collaborative skills, working well within a team is essential
Required: Ability to investigate problems independently, and perform root cause analysis
Preferred: Proficiency with Mac OS, MS Windows and Linux operating systems
Preferred: Familiarity with Docker will be an asset.
Education/Certificates Required
Graduate of a post-secondary program majoring in any technical/technology discipline (Engineer/Technician/Technologist), or equivalent work experience.
Required: Fluent in English (Written, Spoken), (French Proficiency is also beneficial)
Additional Information:
Position Type: Contractor, term length negotiable, typically 6 months initially, with possibility of recurring 6-month renewals
Top 3 skills needed: 1. Proficient in quality assurance testing processes for mobile and web-based applications, must possess a keen eye for identifying defects. 2. Proficient at developing test strategies for multi-platform user-experience testing, including automated test strategies 3. No, but French proficiency is beneficial 4) Since person will be working remote during COVID , are you open to candidate coming from other locations? If yes, which locations. a. Open to candidate from other locations (Toronto, Montreal), but should be willing to re-locate to Ottawa once we get back to the office. Contract Term: 6 month initial contract with a possibility of extension based on performance and continuing business need.
