MaxSys is currently looking for a Library Archivist, Intermediate for our Federal Client.
Qualifications:
Education:
Secondary school diploma is required
Experience:
Must clearly demonstrate 1 years experience within the past 2 years (Working knowledge of historical research, museum practices and archival procedures are an asset).
Must demonstrate at least one year experience of working with specialized digitization equipment and computers capable of scanning fragile books, and oversized and fragile documents
Proficient in the operation and use of Microsoft Office products
Experience in the repair of archival documents or books
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
Experience working in team environment
Duties that may include, but not limited to:
Create and confirm digitization standards, including resolutions, image types, naming conventions, file structures, and maintain registry databases for digitized history and heritage material.
Applicant will work under the direction of the Digitization Coordinator to scan archival textual and imagery material and prepare digital documents for storage and web publishing.
Applicant must be prepared to work standing for a long period of time during the day
Assist with Directorate publications and library administration when required. Must be able to carry 25-pound boxes.
Scanning and digitization – preparing records for digitization; separating a variety of records, preparing paper documents for digitization, removing staples, binding, and removing paperclips.
Attention to detail to ensure that documents are correctly typed and scanned and are properly filed and maintained with reference to our retention policy.
File uploading performing quality control to ensure documents are scanned correctly with clear images and entered into our internal database.
Time management work with individuals from many sections on a variety of tasks and ensuring efficient scanning and uploading
Document security and confidentiality to follow best practices for document and file security for both paper and digital documents.
Communication skills to communicate with the team and archives section, providing information and preparing documents to be digitized.
An average minimum of 1.5 boxes per day of document preparation will need to be maintained.

You will report progress and output data into spreadsheets
You will perform basic image enhancement and file organization tasks
