Our client is looking for a Solutions Architect to work in Scarborough. This is a full-time permanent position.
What Youll Be Doing:
Lead the creation and evolution of the application architecture function, selection and adoption of frameworks and methodologies, and facilitate the creation of governing principles to guide solution design decisions
Collaborate with local and regional Information Services teams to deliver enterprise solutions that are scalable, adaptable and in synchronization with evolving business needs
Act as liaison with technology partners and vendors on Application Architecture issues, recommend and provide input to technology strategy, architecture, standards and patterns
Software Lifecycle and Process Improvements
Ensure projects do not duplicate functionality or diverge from architecture stablished guidelines
Guide application design and provide technical leadership to ensure alignment to business objectives and application lifecycle
Lead the design, implementation and customization of our Connected Technology Solutions.
In partnership with Enterprise Architecture, contribute to the definition of enterprise automation strategies and roadmaps
In partnership with regional associates, lead the design, development, deployment and sustainment of our Connected Technologies solutions across the enterprise.
Review existing and emerging technologies and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprises strategy and architecture; develop strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity and business functions
Ensure technical integrity and consistency of the solution on every stage of its lifecycle
Foster dissemination and maturity of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), and DevOps best practices
Analyse current business and I.S. solutions & environments to detect deficiencies, recommend improvements and kaizen (continuous improvement) I.S. processes
Best Practices, Collaboration and Sharing
Compile business needs, process information and technical requirements to produce an optimal, high level, analysis and conceptual design for projects and new solutions
Steer and guide the creation and maintenance of the software design (application architecture) strategy and direction
Work with third party vendors to develop and/or integrate their applications into TCIs solutions; ensure that applications are in accordance with company product standards and guidelines
Provide education, coaching, and guidelines to I.S. practice on the use of enterprise architecture tools,
technology, and standards
Provide guidance and expertise on system options, risk, impact and costs vs. benefits analysis.
Champion the proper use of tools, processes and standards by conducting education, application review and design sessions to reinforce skills and knowledge baseline
Influence and communicate effectively with non-technical audiences
What You Bring:
University Degree in computer science or related discipline
Must have 5+ years I.S. experience in application design and architecture, including solid hands-on experience in conceptualization, modelling and design. Experience in environments running multiple platforms is considered an asset
Strong (5+ years) of technical hands-on expertise with Connected Technology (Telematics) solution implementations configuration and architectural design.
3+ years of technical expertise in system integration, middleware, API, ITIL, SaaS, COTS
Experience working highly preferred
Experience with any of the following is considered an asset: IBM Liberty (WAS), API Connect (APIC), IBM Integration Bus (IIB) Java, Java Script, Azure DevOps, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things (IoT)
Broad understanding of I.S. practices and technologies, including PMLC, SDLC, infrastructure and application design, development tools, support, project and process management
Ability to demonstrate initiative, good judgment and effective decision-making; exhibit strong process improvement orientation, and have the experience to lead discussions and achieve positive results amongst inter-disciplinary groups
Excellent written and presentation skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
