Model the way for safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behaviors in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policies, Programs and initiatives
Participate in IT infrastructure and development projects and provides subject matter expertise.
Conducts research and testing related to assigned development projects and infrastructure initiatives, recommends solutions and/or changes to improve performance, stability, functionality or systems management processes.
Ensure regular communications/status reporting with the Project Sponsor, Sites and Users.
Deliver projects on time.
Explore new technologies to determine benefits to the Corporation and provide recommendations
Research, analyze and resolve security vulnerabilities
Provide third level support for Production incidents as needed performs emergency remediation if necessary. Conducts post-incident root cause analysis.
Ensure that all systems are monitored for problems and that corrective action is taken when required in an urgent manner.
Support Enterprise Microsoft Exchange email environment
Support Enterprise Data Backup and DR environment
Support VoIP environment working with third party support as needed
Deal with external vendors to establish services and resolve problems.
Ensure the installation and configuration of Hardware complies with corporate standards.
Ensure up-to-date documentation outlining all procedures and relevant configurations for recovery, administration and troubleshooting purposes are available.
Ensure that all changes to the environment are being documented and maintained.
Identify potential system issues, research and perform cost-benefit analysis based on industry standard platforms and applications, followed by feasible recommendations and/or solution.
Develop and maintain technical documentation
Post-Secondary Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or relevant Engineering field coupled with related Professional Certifications/Designations.
8+ years of experience providing system administration support in a production environment.
Working knowledge of load balancing, switching, firewalls
Exceptional understanding of Windows server 2008/2012 and Microsoft OS
Exceptional expertise and experience with Microsoft Exchange (Exchange 2007/2010), Active Directory
Experience with cloud-based platforms such as Azure and AWS
Higher knowledge of SQL 2008/2012
Proficient VM (VMWare and HyperV) infrastructure administration experience
